Not all businesses have an experienced data protection professional who they can go to for advice with their data protection compliance, in fact for some businesses it isn’t a viable option to employ someone in-house in this role. Even those businesses who have someone who has responsibility for data protection compliance may only have the basic knowledge of data protection law.

What is covered under this service?
Our telephone helpline service allows you to discuss your data protection and privacy issues with a data protection expert who will help you understand your legal obligations and give advice on how to deal with your query.
The types of queries would include:
What to tell individuals when collecting their information
How to deal with requests from individuals
Disclosing information to other businesses and third parties
Data sharing and how to do this lawfully
Direct marketing practices and staying within the law
Responses to queries are by telephone only, there is no written response provided under this service. You can submit queries to us by email for us to respond back to you by telephone.
The service operates under a fair use policy, which we feel is better than setting a maximum number of queries that can be submitted per month/year. However, where a business is making excessive use of the service and is being unreasonable we may withdraw the service to that business and refund the remaining part of the subscription.
How much will this service cost?
The service is provided on a monthly fee basis.
We are not able to set a fixed fee for this as there are a number of variables that need to be taken into account for the provision of this service, for example, the type of personal data your process, the volume of personal data you process, what your personal data processing activities are, use of 3rd parties to process personal data on your behalf, whether you share your personal with other 3rd parties, etc.
When is the helpline available?
The service operates during working days only from 9.15am to 4.30pm. Our aim is to answer calls immediately, however, during busy times you may need to leave a message and we will call you back.
What is not covered under this service?
We cannot provide comprehensive data protection advice under this service. This service is to point you in the right direction and guide you through resolving your data protection query.
No written responses are provided under this service.
Drafting of responses to requests for personal data, data sharing agreements, data controller contracts, and reviewing/drafting policy documents is not included in this service. If you require any of these services, we can provide these at a fixed cost.
