Guidance on consent under GDPR

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has prepared new guidance on consent under the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 (GDPR).  This guidance is now out for consultation and the ICO is seeking your views by 31 March 2017.

Consent under GDPR is at a higher standard than that under the Data Protection Act 1998 so it is essential you know what the definition is and how you need to apply the obtaining of consent from your customers, etc. to process their personal data.

In this guidance the ICO sets out their recommended approach to compliance and what counts as valid consent.  Additionally it helps you identify if there are other options other than consent to rely on for processing personal data lawfully.
